What's the big deal with small boats? Marty Loken, boatbuilder, organizer of events for the Port Townsend Pocket Yachters group and Associate Editor of Small Craft Advisor magazine--who's been boating and cruising Northwest waters for almost 75 years--looks at the practical side of small-boat ownership along with often-lyrical experiences that can be enhanced aboard a smaller cruising boat. Included will be a review of many different small-boat designs; the buy-new-vs.-restore question; how to learn more about small cruising boats, and where to consider trailering your camp-cruising boat once you've  decided to join the world of smaller-boat owners. ("Small Boat," in this case, refers to any sailboat, rowing boat or powerboat that is trailerable--generally up to about 24 feet on deck, but mostly in the 14'-22' range.)
