Shipwrecked at the age of 14 along with his parents and younger sister, Garth and his family not only survived, but rebuilt the vessel and finished sailing around the globe despite significant obstacles including wild weather, pirates, gun boats, mines and thieves, dengue fever, scurvy, and more. Without a working engine and no way to communicate with the outside world, they struggled to reach home before their broken rig comes crashing down and they ran out of food in a trial that tested them to their limits.
